Now the fun! Here is February's interview! My questions and comments are in black and Ryan's answers are in red.
Name: Ryan Schade
Where Are You From: Price, Utah
I enjoy Hunting, Fishing (Open water and Ice Fishing), Camping, Shooting and just all around being outdoors.
How long have you been participating in these activities and who introduced you?
I have been doing these activities since I was just a little kid around 5 or 6 years old , I was introduced to it by my Father and Grandfather they introduced me by just getting me out and showing how things work.
I am not currently involved in any clubs or organizations I do however own my own business Schadeycreek Lures. We are makers of custom Fishing Lures and Tackle Products. We currently have over 100 different designs of in-line spinners and all have consistently caught fish time and time again we also produce Ice Fishing Lures, jigs , Crawler Harnesses etc... I started this business 4 years ago because I was tired of going to the store and seeing the same old cheap junk all the time so I decided to try my hand at making them and it just caught my attention and spread like wildfire after that and now making patterns that entice fish into striking has become an obsession. Our website is www.schadeycreekoutdoors.com.
I love Schadeycreek Spinners! I want to thank you again for choosing me to be a Pro Staffer for your company.
Yes, I have I have introduced my Daughter Maygun to the outdoors. She has been hunting and fishing with me since she could walk and that is how I introduced her, just by taking her with me as much as possible. I also introduced my Fiance Melanie to the outdoors after she met me 3 years ago. When she came to me she was just a city slicker and had no idea that there was a whole other world out there and once I took her out a few times she was hooked. I am also working on Introducing some more girls to the outdoors just got to convince some of the ladies I work with that there is fun to be had in the Outdoors and all I want them to do is try it a couple of times lol.
How do you encourage your girls in the outdoors?
I try to answer all their questions and encourage everything they are willing to take on and try that involves the outdoors...within reason lol.
One of my favorite monster moments is when I was sitting at the work bench and my daughter Maygun picked up some new lure parts that had yet to be designed and she created 2 fish catching lures straight out of her head. That was a proud monster moment for me because it showed me that everything I have shown and taught her about the outdoors and business had really sunk in with her and that she had put her knowledge to the test.
Way to go Maygun!!!
Do you have any advice for others that would like to get their wife/girlfriend/sister/daughter/etc. involved in the outdoors?
Just to get them out as much as possible and make it fun and encourage them in everything outdoors that they are willing to try and above all have patience while they are learning what you are trying to show them.
I bolded and underlined the 2 most important words in that sentence. Great advice!
What outdoor activity do you wish your girl(s) would do with you?
None, they do everything outdoors with me side-by-side.
I have a few once in a while sometimes they don't like to get up early to go so we don't make it out with me sometimes, I usually just send pictures of everything they are missing and that usually breaks them out of it.
Hmmmm, my husband's answer to this question was very similar.
I enjoy being able to pass on my knowledge and skills and enjoy seeing them develop their own skills and techniques.
Is there anybody (living or dead) you wish you could hunt or fish with?
I would love to hunt with Ted Nugent and Fish with Jimmy Houston.
What are 3 things you always bring with you no matter what outdoor activity you are doing?
Fishing Poles and Schadeycreek Lures
Cameras - Video and Still
Binoculars and a Gun
I know that's 4 but I gotta bring the essentials.
That's ok, my list is longer than 3 items too.
Great interview Ryan!!! Thank you so much for doing the interview and also for your support for Girls In The Outdoors. Also, thank you for choosing me to be a Pro Staffer for Schadeycreek!!
